Why Soul Care?
We believe that, more than anything else, the emotional, spiritual, and relational health of a spiritual leader effects the spiritual vibrancy of a city.
Every spiritual leader, at whatever level of leadership, needs a pastor. As you likely know all too well, even though leaders are surrounded by people, ministry can be lonely and isolating. The perceived external pressures to perform and achieve, coupled with the internal struggles of the heart, often sap a leader’s passion and strength. It’s crucial that our church leaders guard their hearts and minds, and that is simply impossible to do alone.
We are aware that many pastors have a denominational affiliation with varying levels of care and support, along with a local oversight board (deacons, elders, or the like). Yet, even with these beneficial structures, being open and vulnerable about life and its struggles is often not worth the risk of sharing.
The '"secret sauce” of Church United has been our focus on holistically caring for pastors – a belief that if our leaders find health and wholeness, their capacity for collaboration to see God’s kingdom come and His will be done here in South Florida is greatly increased. We’ve created a “safe third space” for leaders to journey together, bond as co-laborers, and move from surviving to thriving
Our ask is simple:
1. Don’t do ministry life alone: Connect with other leaders. Join us for Church United gatherings, which are designed to foster relationships with local leaders, receive practical resourcing, and catch a vision for collaboration.
2. Enter in yourself: Commit to a Soul Care Cohort. Join a group of local leaders journeying in a similar role and commit to a facilitated gathering, where you’ll find community, practical soul care resourcing, friendship, and rest.
